Psalm 1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

  1. When God calls us to make a joyful noise to Him, serve Him with gladness, and come into His presence with singing, it can be difficult when we are going through a painful time of life. There are days when our soul does not have the strength to be joyful, to serve, or to sing. On such days, it is a comfort to know that the Lord is God and is not moved by our day to day struggles. He made us, and we are His. We are His people. We are His sheep. He is good to us all the time (even when we don't feel it, He is still good). His steadfast love endures forever--even through our longest trials. His faithfulness extends to all generations. The same God who was faithful to Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel, Peter, Paul, and others is faithful to you.
